Editorial Principles

This report is the 12th sustainability report of Wafer Works Corporation (hereinafter as Wafer Works or the Company). The content structure of this report is based on the GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards (GRI Standards) issued by the Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB). It also references the four major principles of the AA1000 Account Ability Principles (AA1000 AP): Materiality, Inclusivity, Responsiveness, and Impact. Considering climate change and investor disclosure requirements, since 2022, the report has included disclosures based on the Task Force on Climate related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB). The aim is to cover as comprehensively as possible the major issues of concern to stakeholders and to demonstrate the Company's sustainability efforts in its operations. This report and the results of the material topics identified have been reviewed by the Wafer Works Sustainable Development Committee, with the report subject to approval by the Chairman before publication. Scope and Source

The information and statistical data disclosed in this report pertain to the sustainability performance of Wafer Works Corporation for the year 2024 (from January 1 to December 31, 2024), and present the sustainability topics of greatest concern to stakeholders. The content of the report covers four key aspects: corporate governance, economy, environment, and society. The economic and financial performance data are based on the consolidated financial statements. All financial data are presented in New Taiwan Dollars (NTD). For information regarding the entities included in the consolidated financial statements, please refer to Appendix 5. The performance indicators related to corporate governance, environmental, and social aspects are based on the operations of the Company's Taiwan production sites for silicon wafers and silicon ingots, including the Longtan Plant and Yangmei Plant.

 

Revised Information

In comparison to 2023, this report exhibits no significant changes in its scope and thematic boundaries, including scale, structure, ownership, and supply chain. In 2023, due to changes in the Global Warming Potential (GWP), the report now switches to the Fifth Assessment Report issued by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), thereby updating the baseline year for 2023. Regarding greenhouse gas emission intensity, calculations are now based on emissions per revenue. Annotations explaining these revisions will accompany the respective changes in the information.

 

 

Report Review

The information and data in this report are collected and compiled by members of the Sustainable Development Committee. They undergo initial scrutiny by departmental managers before being submitted for confirmation by the Sustainable Development Committee. Once improvements are made and data integrity is ensured, final approval is granted by the Chairman. The financial data in this report is sourced from the audited financial statements by Ernst & Young, Taiwan. The report is independently verified by the third party international verification agency, AFNOR Asia Ltd., in accordance with the AA1000AS v3 Type 1 moderate-level assurance. This verification confirms compliance with GRI standards and obtains a statement of assurance. 

 

Report Release Schedule

In line with its commitment to sustainable business operations, Wafer Works Corporation began publicly issuing the "Corporate Social Responsibility Report" in 2012. Starting with the 2021 edition, the report was renamed the "Sustainability Report." The most recent Sustainability Report was issued in July 2024, systematically presenting the Company's efforts in the areas of corporate governance, economy, environment, and society. This report will be released in June 2025. In its efforts to promote sustainable development, Wafer Works will continue to issue its Sustainability Report annually. The next report is scheduled for release in August 2026.
