Wafer Works Corp. (6182 TT) held 2015 annual shareholders’ meeting at its headquarter in Long-Tan, Taoyuan today. In the meeting, the shareholders approved the business operations report and financial statements for fiscal year 2014, ordinary share issuance of private placement and re-elected the board of directors and supervisors. For the fiscal year 2014, Wafer Works Corp. reported a consolidated revenue of NTD$ 5,758 million, with YoY growth of 5.7%, and net loss of NTD$2.15 per share. In the 1st quarter of fiscal year 2015, the company generated net income of NTD$21,798 thousand as result of an increase in the gross margin, and optimistic profit forecast in the 2 nd quarter.
Wafer Works has gradually improved its financial structure by completing new shares offering in December 2014, issuing convertible bonds in April 2015 and obtaining syndicated loan from banks in June 2015. The healthy increase in the working capital will enable the company to focus more on the business expansion and the advancement of product technology, e.g. 8-inch customized silicon wafers for special applications and 12-inch silicon wafers for power device.
Wafer Works is aggressively expanding the product lines to 8-inch silicon wafers in analog IC, logic IC and MEMS-based sensors in addition to its existing discrete device product. This business strategy will minimize the seasonal demand fluctuation, maximize the capacity utilization rate and ultimately grows the revenue. Since 2014, Wafer Works is working with some world-class IDMs and foundries in Taiwan and China, which are dominant in the market of 8-inch analog and MEMS devices. Once the qualification process is completed, the company will show a steady growth in both the revenue and profits.
As the Greater China region has become the center of the global semiconductor industry, Wafer Works Corp. will put more emphasis on the diversification of strategic alliances to advance its silicon wafer technologies, expand its applications expects and market share to become a tier-one silicon wafer supplier.
