Wafer Works approved financial statements and private placement at the 2016 Annual Shareholders’ Meeting

Wafer Works held the annual shareholders’ meeting at its headquarter in Long-Tan, Taoyuan today. In the meeting, the shareholders approved the business operations report and financial statements for fiscal year 2015 and ordinary share issuance of private placement. In 2015, Wafer Works declared a turnaround with NTD$ 5,368 million of consolidated revenue, together with net profit of NTD$ 0.07 per share.

In response to the tremendous market opportunities driven by IoT (Internet of Things), Wafer Works modified its business strategies with the aim of semiconductor core business. In March, the company output over one million pieces of wafers, 150 mm equivalent, marking a milestone breakthrough. Furthermore, it successfully grew the first 300mm ultra-low resistance crystal among all competitors in Greater China and launched the advanced silicon technology development program in May, in order to enhance the added value of products and to fulfill the supplier chain gap in MEMS industry as well. To outlook the second half of the year, analog IC, logic IC, and MEMS Chips will be distributed in succession showing steady growth of its revenue and profit.

This year is going to be a critical year for all silicon wafer suppliers to face the re-integration by reasons of the gathering of semiconductor industry to the Greater China and of a series of policies Chinese government made for fostering its local supplier chain. In accordance, Wafer Works will establish diversified strategic alliances and partnerships to enter Chinese market and expand its capacity tactically. With constant development and research of high-tech silicon wafers to extend the application scopes, Wafer Works will firmly build its reputation as one of the first-class silicon wafer suppliers in the global market.
