(Taoyuan, Taiwan, May 14) Power generator of Taipower’s Xingda plant tripped in the afternoon of May 13, 2021, causing a major power outage throughout Taiwan, and as a consequence, the government implemented a rolling blackout plan at 3 pm.
The Longtan fab of WWX is located in the science park. The power outage did not have a significant impact on its operations. On the contrary, the Yangmei fab was affected by this event. The machines and equipment stopped operating and needed to be restarted. This will definitely affect the supply of 150mm wafers and under. The actual impact is still being evaluated.
